The gusting wind bites cold
Against the short hair on the
Back of my neck

Standing on the beach in
Late winter
To remind myself there once was sun

Rain is never welcome
When it’s cold
Mixed with the spray off the shore
In small speckled liquid shards

They bite with the wind
Against the short hair on the
Back of my neck

I think

A little sun can’t hurt

Warm respite

I can feel it as I see it in my mind

Its presence palpable
I take off my hat
In the cold and rain

Wind blows through thick curls
And i feel the fancied sun
Beat down

Children run with sand-packed feet
Splashing in the foamy surf
Apparition summer
Apparition heat

The chill turns peaceful
And I know the light is there
