Striking at once, it slowly leaks across the eastern sky
Above it the singular stars extinguish into light
The long fingers of the sun
Reaching into the heavens, masking the night

The night, once lonely, dark and cold
Ebbs slowly and reluctant
Begrudging each sky inch,
Smiling coy, chagrin; transplendant

Dawn pushes forth unfettered
Shading shadow night receding
Finally the day
(repeating)

At last the sun awakens
Peering over the distant swaying plains
Stranger to subtlety, grand in its display

It reigns
